Hey guys, since I got this new PC I've never tried overclocking before. The MSI Z77A-G45 GAMING mother board has something calls OC Genie II. I just hit it and it'll automattically OC everyting. It worked the first time, but after I tried it again, my system would power on, then off, then on again, and struggle just to make it to the bios screen. It wouldn't start up. So I'm trying to figure out some settings (more details to come) but I'm wondering if I dont have enough voltage going into the CPU. I want to OC the CPU to 4.2. The vid card, not sure. RAM I have two 8 gig sticks in there with a max frequency of 1866, but the usual boot up just has them at 1333. I don't want to OC them, just keep them at 1866. So I think the problem might be voltage. I have a 850W PSU so I'm pretty sure that's enough.

I see no indication of what CPU you have, therefore it would be difficult to help you with your CPU issues ;)

Also RAM could be an issue as OCing a CPU will take up more memory.

    So:
    What is your CPU?
    and
What RAM & OS do you have? ( (not amount of RAM, as I see you have 8gb) For example: I have 16GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 Ram, and I am running Windows 7 Professional.)

oops sorry forgot to post that. Well here's a link to what I purchased (I actually went with a H100i cooling system instead of the 80). http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chaos782/saved/24I0 The OC Genie II seems to be a problem.
    And just recently purchased http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231571

Since its a K model its easy overclocking. You dont need to use the MSI Genie. Just raise your multiplier to which ever speed you want (4.2/4.4ghz). Then you tweak your vcore voltage. This depends if its a 24/7 OC or a boot up and play the game and turn off OC. I would recommend staying below 1.4 and see what you can get. However to get the higher 4.4/4.6 speeds you might need to overvolt. :)
