Russians vs British and American from a noob perspective

I got all my british 3's up and one lvl 4. I wasn't doing very well and just couldn't seem to get the feel or the guns so I decided to try out the americans. Did my level ones and they felt the same as the British. The other day I started on he Russians and was plopped into the seat of an Ishka with its near steel rain laser beam 1m rounds per second gun. Wow op'd? Then I got my two LAGG's and started blowing fucking shit up. In short order I had two top one placed games and am regularly in the top four. Something was going on and I had to find out why. I think the answer, or a large percentage of it is that the guns are mounted on the nose of the plane instead of the wings making convergence a none issue.

So if your a noob, like me, start out on the Russian side and when you get more skilled, go over to the British. The game is a lot more fun now.

PS: Im hoping the tier 2's and up are just as good as the 1's

 

Russians are good at every tier, pure energy fighters and LaGGs totally dominate lower tier brackets. At higher tiers they're still great, especially in arcade, but their competition is up there too.
Brits are simply amazing, excellent turn fighters, Spitfire Mk IIb is my most favorite plane in the game and MkXVI for higher tiers. One downside, they're all made out of paper and if someone just sneezes on ur direction.... Well u know
For Brits in AB u want to have your guns conversion distance at 500m and use ur cannons once u get close enough to fire. In Sims I use 250m and I've gotten as many as 5 kills with only one clip of ammo.
Americans at low tiers are iffy considering the competition but they get good really fast once you unlock your Aircobras. Until that happens, P40 and P400 will be your primary planes. Use Hawks as your secondary planes.
At Tier 1, the Buffalos are really cool and their FM needs some tweaking, I've taken one to over 800kph in Sims. Go figure
Once you get your Cobras with 37mm cannons, you will be raping everything you line up your shot at.

 

Arcade mode:

Right now the American planes are broken as al hell, don't bother, flight models are inaccurate, guns aren't right either. Germans got broken this last patch, everyones complaining about the BF's and FW's flight models.
Russian planes................................... Although Ganjinn says theres no bias, virtually everyone begs to differ. Flight models are very good (better than the actual planes of those eras) guns are amazing as well. (Never let a Yak 9 get behind you). They are also very strong planes, they take a beating and keep on flying like champs, its sickening to watch...
Japanese planes are made of tissue paper, great turn fighters but are slow and until you get to higher teirs, they are undergunned as well.
Brits actually aren't bad at all, Spitfires while on the slower side can turn and gun with the best of them, Hurricanes are very good planes as well. Their bombers are weak as all heck but overall Brits are definitely a good choice

Devs managed to fk up a great plane. It overheats before you even start the engine.

I actually heard that even in Arcade, unless that was their big fix last week.

They fucked sims big time. Everything but the Russians overheats very fast, cant really WEP much, Germans are still broken and we've been playing the same 2 maps for the past 3 days. RU vs Jap.
I was hoping that at least for the weekend they will change it but they didn't. Instead they added an event.
To shut people up about slow RP progression, they gave us x4 for a day lol
I was flying KI61 last night which had a 1.5 bonus on it, plus x4, after two air kills and 6 ground, I got 28k RP but the repair bill was 25k because these morons put a fucking tree next to AAA. I mean that makes perfect sense. WTF is up with KI61 and Fw190 A5U2 repair cost, tier 3 plane - 25k reps if fully upgraded. Fw190 A5 is only 6k, Ki 84 which is ranked higher than Ki61 - 12k. I don't get it.

 

I called it quits last night when I pumped 4 cannon shots into a Yak 9 (including 2 cockpit shots) and all I got was sparks and no hit markers that did damage.
5 minutes before that I went through 2 full clips on cannon fire on a LA 5 before I took him down. But I can 1 shot a Spitfire, Zero and the occasional BF-109 with no problem, or get 1 shot on my P-47 have a red tail but can't turn of pull out of a dive. No rudder or aileron damage just a red tail. For a game that's been in beta as long as it has, it has a lot of flaws.

 

Great information everyone. I just couldn't get the feel or find the sweet spot on my british plans. Im only lvl 13 so no doubt more time and playing around would help. Someone said in TS to lead the reticle slightly and that helps for sure. That said, I did not need more time with those LAgg's though. Last night I one shotted a couple of people BOOM! and I rocketed a guy with my Ishka which I should of recorded. Never did that with my Brits. The LAgg does feel slow and heavy but as you say, takes an incredible pounding.

I didn't do as well last night because now that my 1's are all maxed out I'm getting matched with more people who know what their doing. Looking forward to Tier 2 now.

 

Yes if youre struggling with hitting your target, lead the reticle, it took me a while but once you find that sweet spot, youll tear planes up (well all except Russian planes) keep working your lower tiers as long as you can, to avoid being matched up higher and end up being clubbed. If you go up, try not to get too frustrated, you're going to get beat up until you get some upgrades on your plane. Hang back early in matches, boom ad zoom planes trying to escape or ones that are trying to slip by your defenses. If you find a lone bomber, don't sit on his ass, his gunners will chew you up like a piece of gum.... go at them from the sides, give it all you got then zip past him, reload and do it again... Aim for the wings and engines. Once you set him on fire, its the beginning of the end.
