Val I can go over settings and keys with you sometime in game. As for the not having distance to the target like in planes there isn't a way to get it. I believe this is a good thing because it makes people estimate distance to the target. If you were to give someone exact distance in game they would be able to go to a test drive before and figure out which elevation mark to use for each distance. This would essentially turn RB into AB minus the penetration indicator which once you start to recognize weak spots you won't even need. And covering your last point of aiming and targeting I will be honest with you. I shoot completely with feel, I know there are ways to use the crosshairs to get a better estimate for distance but when you are engaging a tank and they are shooting back I won't be sitting there taking the time to try and guess range. The easiest way to get comfortable with the gun on your tank is doing a test drive, 5-10 minutes on the range will give you a chance to shoot at targets and get a feel for round drop in that tank.

Sorry it took so long but I have added part 3 to the original post and also switched to just linking to a document for each section so that the post doesn't end up being miles long. Hopefully this will make things easier to find. And if the links aren't working for someone please message me and I will try and get them fixed.

Added a quick simple guide for estimating range and using reticle to fire at long range.

One comment, not that I'm an expert, but at the end you commented on shooting up or downhill. For uphill shots you will need to shoot at a higher elevation, ie. Target 400m uphill, you may need to elevate to 500m on your stadia. Other way for downhill, shoot lower, ie. Target 400m downhill, set your stadia to 300m. As for how much, well, I'm guessing your just going to have to feel or gain experience for what you are doing. I liken it to golfing on a hilly course. Look and feel tells me whether I have to club up or down 1 to 2 or more clubs or not.

Updated original post with a section on aircraft to use for low tier matches. Also if you guys prefer the layout of 2 most recent updates versus the original sections of just text please let me know and I will go back and edit those so they are along the same lines.

Nice post as always. Coordination between the ground forces and the Ju-87s will be key because you don't want to be anywhere near one of those 1000kgs when it hits.

A couple more options for aircraft that I have noticed:

The Bf-110 can carry a 500kg bomb at 2.3 BR and can defend itself a bit better than a Ju-87, especially if you have two 110s working together.

Don't be fooled by the rockets on the Bf-109F-2, they are useless against even light tanks. If flying Germans, you're going to have to get used to dive bombing until high tier 3.

For the Russians, BR 2.0 (I-16 Type 18 and 24 and LAGG-3-35), BR 2.3 (I-153 Chaika and Yak-7b) and BR 2.7 (LAGG-3-66) have a variety of fighters capable of carrying 82mm rockets. These are quite capable of killing a low tier tank and offer better self defense capability than a pure attacker.

For the IL-2 I have found that the 100kg bombs are mostly worthless against tanks so it's probably best just to carry rockets and strafe anything that isn't armored.

Also, even though it comes after the IL-2, the first Pe-3 has a lower battle rating (2.3 versus 3.0 for the IL-2) so you can bring it in to high tier 1 matches if you want the bigger 132mm rockets.

I was going to try to do a section on the weak points of the armor and general locations to shoot to hit things like ammo racks. But then I got on the War Thunder website and saw they are building an armor inspector into the game. So I am not going to waste hours of someones time in a custom battle shooting them over and over. Obviously no one know when this will be in game but it will be so much more useful than anything I can make. Here is the link to the Devblog:
