Hey Team, just wondering what you guys use? I've defaulted to Mouse and Keyboard after trying Joystick once and found I couldn't aim at all. Any recos or thoughts?

    M&K = RB, Joystick = SB.
You can do well with a joystick in RB but it takes a lot of practice because every mouse aimer is already better than you.

I keep wondering whether the ability to roll and evade better would be worth the loss in precision aim.

Its easier done with the mouse IMO.

If you got a joystick, why aren't you flying SB?

Generally speaking, it's probably not simply because your big picture goal in any fight should be to avoid situations where you have to evade enemy fire and seek out situations where you are firing at the enemy (and then aiming is most important). Also, in a guns defense scenario, your keyboard pitch and roll keys can often be useful because you don't need to be very precise with your movements.

That having been said, it is certainly possible to fly and succeed in RB with a joystick if you want to put in the time practicing with it.

I have played the entire time with a joystick. I realize that in RB the learning curve is much shorter using a mouse with appropriate key bindings. I just could not get used to flying without the stick and the loss of immersion in the game.

I also took the long view that when I progressed to simulator flights, I would be payed back by the efforts that I had made using the joystick all along.

Naceo has been playing RB with a joystick for a long long time, he also does very well in SB, so he would be the perfect person to talk about that.

Yeah... i tried with a joystick but wow so hard to aim compared to mouse control. Evading fire was easier, but couldn't get any hits in.

Go into Custom Battles and load up The Hardest Day, make sure that you're on the Allies side and go kill some bombers. It will take time but you'll get a hang of it.

As soon as I get this bad boy in from the EU, and get my CH Products Pro Throttle setup, I'm going to attempt to leave the ranks of the mouse aimers and go stick and throttle (and TrackIR, of course). Looking forward to a little russkiy love from this thing!

Of course, I need to get off the game meth I'm addicted to with half the rest of the squadron, but I'll be back. :D
