I got that sweetpacks virus on my browser and can't seem to find any *FREE* removal software for it, the registry alterations are a bit confusing as well. Anybody else deal with this?

Go to control panel (windows button and search for it) then find add or remove programs. Look for SweetIM for Messenger, SweetPacks Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Update Manager for SweetPacks and uninstall them. That'll get rid of the persistent aspects.
To clean the browser type about:config in the address thing, search for sweetpacks and delete everything associated with it, or just do a full browser reset.
Then run an antivirus and you should be golden.
If not this is gonna get more complicated and you'd best be ready to learn something new today :D

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

This will help you locate any "Nonsense" programs that may be on your system. Its 100% free and I have used it once before. When it finds them, you have to get your hands dirty removing them, but what do you expect from free software? A good anti-virus software is very important, get one ASAP.

I reset my navigators to default. It got rid of these. Thing is despite uninstall and deleting the files the damn thing was sticking to my navigators.

OK! So BitDefender found nothing. AVG Free finds nothing. I checked the control panel for all of the 3 programs that Patrick the guru suggested and they are not installed in the first place(recently formatted my drive) or uninstalled. That link you posted Vonic, I have seen, and it does not seem to get me anywhere. I've deleted some registry entries related to this thing but after the recent format my broswer was fine until I re-synched my google account to chrome/firefox. The only real problem I'm having is when I open my browser 5 tabs open up immediately with random sh*t and its really annoying.

OK, lets go down the rabbit hole...

I just want you to know, I refuse to use Chrome (for personal reasons)....I use Maxthon.
I tested out every browser I could find from Explorer to Chrome, to Opera. I tested out 9 total. I like Maxthon the most.

You are using Windows 7 right? and Google Chrome only right? Your not using Internet Explorer also are you? If you are, we will have to kill the bug in all its hiding places.

If you did as Patrick said you should have done this already:

If you have sweetpacks, then it will be in your program list. Delete it.
If you have deleted the program, then you will have to correct your default home page. Change it.
If you have fixed your default homepage, then you will have to edit your browser's toolbar extensions. Remove all sweet extensions.
Once you have completed all the above, run the virus scanners again. Restart your computer and see if that fixed it.

If you still have problems, we will attack from another direction.
    See links:

it had a link to this:

I would start by editing that file and see if you can clean up some.
That link shows you how edit those extra tabs that keep popping up.
