    Howdy.

So right now I am running a 256GB SDD with a 2TB HDD (both internal) back-up storage. In terms of partitioning:

238GB max space with my C drive; 1.81TB max space on my D drive; and 98.9MB max on my E drive (system reserved). This is where things get weird.

Everything on my C: drive appears to check out; it's my D: drive that concerns me. When looking at available disk space, it is telling me that there is only 24.6GB available. This doesn't make sense since when highlighting all available files (hidden and read-only included) within the drive, it takes up 80.8GB. This means that, for whatever reason, I have lost well over 1.6TB of disk space for not apparent reason. What I have tried:

*Defragmentation (not that it really does much on the non-OS drive)
*Ran CCleaner to remove any superfluous files
*Ran SeaTools (running a Seagate HDD) and checked for any errors or problems
*Confirmed disk space usage via WinDirStat (it informs me that only 80.8GB is contained in the drive, yet only 20ish GB remains available)
    *Ran numerous virus scans
    *Deleted any superfluous applications
*Ran the stock MS Disk Cleanup option
*Confirmed that System Protection was off for my D: drive (again, not that it really does much on the non-OS drive)
*Confirmed via command prompt (DISKPART> list volume); lists status as healthy

Any idea as to why I'd lose this much diskspace???

I've had this happen to me before, it had something to do with a partition if I remember right... I'll look into this and see if I can remember what I did to fix it. The other thing, my laptop is currently doing something similar to this where it tells me there only 100g left in explorer, but if I right click and open properties it says there's 235g which is correct.

Yeah reformatting didn't help oddly enough. Interestingly enough, though, is there were two phantom Windows updates that suddenly needed downloading and after they finished the hard disk space cleared up.

Download easeus or gparted and see whats going on with the drive partitions. If you cant figure out where the space went with one of these tools then something maybe horribly wrong. Also download and run astra32. Check and make sure its reporting that the S.M.A.R.T. Good. I would just be extremely leery putting any important data on that Seagate. Almost every one of those drives I have encountered have died with in 3 years of the manufacturing date. Seagate drives are absolute shit IMO. Hopefully you find your unallocated space.

also CrystalDiskInfo is a great tool to check all the actual hardware parts of your drive. It will tell you specifically if there is anything broken or corrupted with your drive. (Just Download the Standard Edition)
