I'm getting super close to being able to purchase the Galleon Plans. 143/250 Guilda. Seeing how there are two variants Mortos and I agreed that YOU get to choose which ship we run first! That being said:

As you all know there are 2 different galleons in ArcheAge, the Nuian Eznan Cutter and the Haranian Lutesong Junk. While both very aesthetically pleasing to different crowds for their own reasons, these are more than just variants. They are tactfully and strategically different, both having upsides and both having downsides.

    The Eznan Cutter
    [IMG]

    Pros/Cons
+ 4 cargo boxes centrally located. Easy to defend.
+ Vertical Space. The masts are climbable on the Cutter. The mizzenmast (most aft mast for you non-sailors) has a crows nest with the radar on it and that section is very very defend-able.
+ Railings. Falling off is hard if you're not "special".
    + Lots of deck space.
    - Furling/Unfurling requires someone to climb slightly up the masts; Removes 2 people from possible combat (unless borded)
    - Failling off the mizzenmast and rear stairs is easy.
    - Ranged combat over the railings is challenging.

    The Lutesong Junk
    [IMG]

    Pros/Cons
+ Helmsman is protected; Higher walls and a little roof.
+ Rear Entry is very very very defend-able, it's almost like a killing zone and it is very hard to escape it. Climbing the stairs is VERY easy due to the walls and jumping off requires a 180* change in direction. Easy to defend.
+ Furling/Unfurling sails is easy, no climbing required.
    - Furling/Unfurling sails is easy.
    - Very cluttered deck space.
    - Separated cargo boxes.
    - Everyone/thing is on one deck; No vertical space.
    - Radar centrally located on deck.
    - Easy to fall off.
    - Anchor "console" is HUGE, easy to click.
+ Has a war drum, and the ship looks cool.

So now you have the full info. And that presents the main question again.

I think since 903 has the cutter, we should get the junk so we have a variety of ships available when we do combined ops.

I voted for the junk b/c we already have a cutter w/ 903rd. But it really makes no difference to me.

I think we should all go and pile on to the junk, see what it's like when we have it filled.

My first thought was the Junk, because like what others said 903rd has the Cutter already. If I'm understanding it correctly, the Cutter sounds better for defending against people boarding in the first place, and the Junk is easier to mop up once the scallywags board.

I have a 20m stun and I've stunned approaching/attempted escaping enemy Clipper captains from the deck of the Cutter before, so that was pretty cool.

What about their abilities, like the Glider repellent thing? Does the Junk have different abilities?

Nope! They are completely the same ability wise. Models and layouts are the only difference

There actually is a Nuian Junk called "Inthetrunk". And it is fuckin hilarious. I was actually thinking about naming it "Lutesongdunk"
