The game itself does look very pretty. However it looks like any other fps. Instead of some dude running around you are a robot....yay? How much customization is there to these things? Is there more game modes than just team death match?

I am very disappointed about MW:O. No way to repair or rearm. Team death match is the only game mode (so far). It takes WAY too long to get even a light mech. They also got this annoying pay to win type crap going on there. :frown:

oh well good thing planetside 2 kicks all sorts of ass so far....hope SOE does not screw this up like everything else they touched.

The fact that SOE is releasing PS2 this November could be a potential screw up. Seems the game is far from ready. Unless the beta is an older build and they've made a lot of fixes in newer builds.

I think you go it Ghost. Im going to beleive that SOE is running an older build and slowly working it to the current build so we can play up until the release date.

Got in on Alpha 2 so I played this for a week straight. Being an F2P game, the average player will not be very good and this was evident during the alpha. Certain builds stomped. Certain builds sucked. That's 100% to be expected in an alpha though.

This game is going to be similar to Blacklight Retribution I feel. It has the same sort of shallow depth to it, however there's a few mechanics that are more advanced that when serious effort is put towards, allows the more hardcore crowd to absolutely curbstomp the casual crowd. I enjoyed the game but to me, this game really does feel like the Call of Duty of mech games. It's not very impressive. Fast paced, explosive, and initially fun, yes, but for any sort of complexity in teamplay requires a serious effort, and why bother when there's better games for that? On a more positive note, when configured correctly the movements were very responsive while still managing to feel like a mech.

The customization wasn't terribly advanced in terms of aesthetics. That's an understatement. But the internal parts, specialization trees and (planned) weapon upgrades are neat and there's some fun potential there. But there's also meta game hopping potential there. Hopefully weapon upgrades are specializations rather than downright advantages for those who have played longer. The scores above were done with a Flak/Grenade Launcher speed build I made fairly early into the alpha. After a little while other players started catching on and everybody was getting slapped around because the weapon combo was blatantly better then anything else when you're rushing someone's grill.

I guess I could summarize this best by saying this game is a fairly standard fast paced F2P game.

I played this for a week or so, and the next Beta is going to be available to play on the 27th of October. Enlist, it's an AWESOME game and it'll be free.

I was in the Closed Beta for it, very fun and fast paced.....don't know if you ever played any of the PS1 Armor Core games but that is the feel I get from it.

MWO online is a good game flawed by it's F2P model. I haven't played Hawken but it looks really good and I want to play it. Damn guys won't let me into their beta.

Here is a more thorough explanation of my opinion on MWO:
I played a good bit of the closed beta for MWO. It's not a bad game. The only real problem I have with is the fact there they are pretty much the pay to win model of F2P. They're really skirting the line actually, but it's close enough to complete pay to win that I can't enjoy it. Everything is based around the XP and credits you earn during battles. You pay for mechs that always earn more credits. That means you can afford better gear and ammo for that gear. A non-paying player could earn all the gear that a paying player can, but affording after battle repairs and ammo replenishment can be brutal on the larger mechs. That gives these mechs that earn more credits passively an advantage. Where the model is truly pay to win is the XP system. You earn XP for the specific mech you are piloting. You can then spend that XP on upgrades for the mech. In order to reach the better XP unlocks you have to earn XP for several different styles of the same mech type. Each mech type takes up a slot in your garage. You get 4 garage slots by default. It takes real money to get more garage slots to fit the mechs you need to unlock the better XP tiers. A non-paying player could conceivably achieve this but the time sink it would be to do it without paying real money is crazy long.

I have no idea how Hawken is running it's F2P model, but they also haven't let me into the beta for quite some time now. I almost feel like my part of the list was forgotten.

When I first saw Hawken I was bawling in excitement as I LOVED robot/mech fighting and always wanted to see it more in video games. My favorite part always being the garage scene, picking out parts to use, shopping for new ones to try, and any tweaking you have available to you.

Somewhere i've kinda lost that love however..
