Another video card question

I was looking for a temporary upgrade for my VC until I decide to build a new machine.
For anywhere between $200-300.
Would GTX 760 be a good choice?

I don't know shit about computers but my current card keeps on losing connection to the monitor and it could be a number of things that can contribute to that but I was thinking about upgrading my GTX580 for a while now. The old card runs great tho and I bought it back they first came out but I think that its time has come. As if right now, I havnt come across any game that I wasn't able to run on the highest settings and I don't think I remember getting any video lag at all unless its BF3 on Ultra, which is a total waste

 

I'd say the r9 280x. It is on par with a 770 so it will destroy a 760 blindfolded/

I run it now and I never get less than 70 frames on the highest settings in every game I play

 

Yes. It's what I have now. Kowl is being a little over dramatic in his analysis of the cards imo, I get 70 or more on every game I play as well np on highest settings, it's really not that big of a difference if you get a 4GB version.

 

What part am I being over dramatic with? The card beating the 770? Or the frames?

 

Thanks for the reply Kowlefe. I currently run 60+ frames with GTX 580 and I got really bad taste in my mouth from my last Radeon card so is much rather stick to NVDIA.

 

I think a 580 is on par with a 760 or slightly better than it right now. At least in the bf4 beta 1stvirus and Ghost were running on ultra with gost and a 580 and virus and a 760

 

Really? I was rubber banding a little bit when I ran BF3 on ultra, on High it was very smooth and on ultra it was ok but kinda choppy.
Also these 760s come with ACX cooler, I'm assuming that it's ducking awesome, isn't it?

 

ACX pushed heat into your case so have exhaust fans on the side and top. And it shouldn't have given you rubber banding unless the card itself was messy... The 500 series came out the same year as BF3 I think
