If you want to play in PAL, the only way you're gonna do it is by practicing PAL rules. Don't take yourself off the team. Keep practicing and let the leadership decide the roster.

Just to give you some anecdotal evidence to show that everyone is willing to work to help each other improve....Jaam/Thane hopped on PTS with me at 4AM and we practiced 1v1ing each other in buildings. Each time they would assess what I did right/wrong and give tips in between. By the end I was doing much better against Jaam than when I started. This only lasted about an hour but I learned a great deal. little things like that done on a repeat basis, then applied to your gameplay on live, will greatly increase preparedness for real competition. I would be more than willing to do this tomorrow for awhile prior to the 903rd scrim if you would like. It'll help us both and anyone else who would like to join in.

I put myself down as a maybe because I really wasn't getting the Head shots I needed last night. I will most likely be around if you need me anyways but I'm sure the chance to fight DA will get a roster of players more capable than I. They mightn't be willing to throw their body at enemy heavies like I did to Jaam and Kor last night though :P

I would appreciate the help, my performance in game and in practice have been lacking and making me doubt my abilities. I just don't want to to embarrass myself or us the team.

Me, Suzaah, and Jaam were up late last night doing 1v1s for practice. If you're interested in something like that hit one of us up!
Honestly I thought you did very well in the PAL practice, especially for your first time!

Thank you guys, I want to be good, I love this game too much to not try to be the best. I have a pretty high standard for myself so when my performance against people I perceive as less skilled than me is terrible I get really hard on myself. I had a better time tonight, the scrim against 903 was refreshing to have (even though I was being mlgpro in a bulldog) .

I would love to practice more and have 1v1 training, plus I was actually brainstorming some fun group activities that could be good for training. I have to put the jumble together but I'll make another thread when I make it coherent.

I really want to chalk up my less than satisfactory on the live server last night to exhaustion and my practice performance on lack of polish.
I'll be there tonight and I'll wreck face as best as I can.

Sometimes it is much much better to just close down Planetside2 and take the night off from playing if you find yourself getting overly frustrated. It happens to me and the more frustrated I get the worse I play. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I play best when I'm relaxed and focused. Forcing yourself to play for hours while being frustrated only bleeds beyond the game and can make it harder to enjoy the game the next session/day. Plus we play to enjoy ourselves it isn't a chore.

Since I started playing competitive gaming many years ago, I have developed sort of a routine before playing. First, I step away from the game (in this case playing on Live) an hour or so before the game starts. You gotta take a break from all the visual stuff and kinda hit the reset button. I take a really short walk, to stretch, fap to thane's picture, and drink some water and eat something small like a protein bar. I always listen to music for an hour or half hour before a match starts. Usually it is just chill music but I will crank it up as the clock gets closer. Currently I always listen to a few Rage Against the Machine songs right before playing in a match. Shit gets you pumped. Then once the PL/SL gives orders its go time.

I think you are underestimating your ability to compete with others at a high level. I mean, you did hold your own during our PAL scrim and during the 903rd scrim....none of those players are just "average" players. If you want to practice something I recommend picking like one aspect of your gameplay and focus hard on it, e.g. you want to improve your headshots with pistols then run around with a commie and only use it. Don't put too many things on the table at once. Yep, your K/D will suffer at first b/c you are challenging yourself and putting yourself at a intentional disadvantage against others but it really does help. Bottom line though, make sure you're having fun while it. We don't get paid to play competitively so at the end of it all our reward is the satisfaction you get from playing well as a team, win or lose.

I know that feeling. I get tense and my aim goes off from nerves. Of course it's not going to be the same as live. You won't be relaxed, and the people you're shooting won't be looking at their map or afk. It's kind of shocking at first when you start to play competitively and you feel like you're nowhere near where you should be. But that's why you practice, so you can handle the pressure. And even if you're losing 1v1s and your k/d is bad, if you're communicating well and supporting your team then you're doing a good job. Don't be too hard on yourself as an individual, we work as a unit.

This next scrim will be against: http://stats.dasanfall.com/ps2/outfit/SR a Miller outfit. They will be taking us on in a formal format with the PAL team watching. It is going to be a dry run for their new guys on the team.
