I'm developing a game for Android and iOS devices, smart phones and tablets.

Intro: It's a 2D defense style war game with a top down perspective. The game will involve strategy, creativity, and good ole fashion blowing shit up! The first game mode that will be released in version 1 is an endless defense mode. So you command/manage troops that face endless waves of enemies. To picture this game in a nut shell, think Mud and Blood 2 mixed with Command and Conquer.

I am looking for someone to contribute some artwork for the game, if this interested you make sure to read the paragraph at the bottom of this post.

Background: The time frame is somewhere between modern and ~20 years into the future. Wars are fought and won on the battlefield through blood, sweat, and bullets, but technology and intelligence plays a much bigger role. The user plays as the battle commander and communicates with his troops through cellular communication as he observes via live satellite feed. So the top down view is essentially a satellite view. The user can pinch and swipe to zoom and pan the satellite around the battlefield. In order for the user to maintain battlefield observation and communication with his troops, he's required to manage UAVs, reconnaissance satellites, and cellular communication satellites.

Blood, Guts, and... Politics: Politics always finds its way into war. Basically, the user will have to manage the battle, his budget, and maintain an Approval Rating that's given by his superiors based on the war's publicity. If the commander's actions make bad publicity, then the Approval Rating goes down. If the Approval Rating goes too low, then the User will be removed from command and the game will be over. The fun twist here is that the user's top secret clearance has access to weapons that are dubbed illegal by NATO. In addition to standard NATO weapons, these illegal weapons are at your disposal and are extremely effective, however they are expensive and using them can give you bad publicity. When the endless waves of enemies gets out of hand, these drastic measures may have to be taken to ensure survival, but at the expense of your Approval Rating. Balancing the lives of your soldiers, your Approval Rating, and your budget will be extremely difficult. Are you up to the challenge?

Budget: All games have some sort of money, currency, or points that you buy/upgrade units with. This game's money will be funding that comes from a budget. Events that happen during game play will affect your budget, possibly increase it or decrease it. You will also have some room to spend over your budget, but this will lower your Approval Rating. Spending over your budget will also force you to pay interest on the debt you owe. So a legit strategy will be weighing in the pros and cons of when it's right to spend over your budget and when it's not. It might be right to spend over your budget to save the lives of key troops who are pinned down and irreplaceable.

Some key attractions to the game (aside from blowing stuff up and slaughtering the enemy):
-Soldiers will have personality traits which affect the way they perform on the battlefield. Examples: Heroic, Brave, Coward, Trigger Happy, OCD, Super Natural, Lone Wolf, Unlucky, Chain Smoker, Chronic Texter... and many many more. Some of these traits directly affect the soldier's attributes and some are more funny than anything. For example: A Brave soldier is harder to pin down or suppress during battle. A Coward is easy to pin down or suppress. A Trigger Happy soldier is more likely to fire in larger bursts than normal and will have a minor accuracy reduction. An example of a funny trait is a Chronic Texter, this soldier will might literally stop fighting temporarily to send a text message.
-Realistic weapon ballistics. Bullets/Weapons accuracy and range are calculated with real physics formulas, not random mumbo jumbo. Bullet grain, ballistics coefficient, muzzle velocity, bullet type(FMJ, hollow-point, etc), and much more are all taken into consideration.
-Soldiers have real line-of-sight which is realistically affected by the objects on the battlefield. This allows the user to strategize his troop movement/placement. You an hide troops in wooded areas or thick grassy areas where it's hard for the enemy to spot you. You can use buildings, streets, or large rocks to create choke points.
-Bullets have real bullet travel paths which is also realistically affected by the objects on the battlefield. You could position your troops behind barrels or in the windows of buildings for good cover.
-Lots of customizations with Soldier classes, weapons, bullet types, magazine types, scopes, and more
-Custom Map Builder which will allow the user to create their own maps in a user friendly drag and drop environment!
-Random Map Generator as well as prebuilt maps

    Future plans for the game:
    -Vehicles
    -Artillery, airstrikes, bombs, etc
-Add Cyber Warfare and Satellite Warfare and more detailed Satellite management into the game. Anti Satellite weaponry for attacking your opponents and disrupting their reconnaissance/communication. I can picture this being most fun in a multiplayer atmosphere.
    -Weather
-Commander HUD upgrades. Infrared, motion tracking, friendly soldier line of sight and cover feedback systems. Anything to make the commander's life easier
-Leaderboards and replay system. View the high scores and watch a replay of their game to see their strategies!
-Make additional game modes, possibly single player campaigns and multi player game modes.

Development Status: I'm several months into the development stages of the game and preparing to release a beta version for iOS. Android will shortly follow.

Game Engine: Writing it myself. A* Pathfinding algorithm for shortest path calculations. Enemy soldiers use Smart AI rather than your typical tower defense games where AI are dumb. I'm essentially simulating a 3D environment in a 2D game. Using a 3D engine would have been wicked overkill for a game of this style on a mobile device. Many of the best mobile games are 2D anyways, and they take significantly less time to develop.

Artwork: If anyone is interested in contributing some artwork, I'd love some help! My goal is to make a really fun and addicting game. Good quality art work goes a long way. I have a lot of the artwork details layed out already, I just need a handy artist to work with. I'm a decent artist myself, but I'm good enough nor do I have the time to be doing all the artwork for the game myself. Everything is top down perspective. The artwork i require can be summed up as:
    -Soldier artwork (top down perspective)
-Weapon images (side perspective, these will be used in menus)
    -Logos.
    -Wallpapers for menu screens
    -Buttons/Icons
-Buildings, grass, corn fields, roads, roof tops, trees, water, rocks, barrels, etc
-Trait Badges. I'd like to see badges for each personality trait. Example: Maybe the Brave trait would have an icon that's a tomahawk. And when the soldier's Brave trait upgrades to Level 2, maybe that tomahawk has a ribbon tied to it, and when it's upgraded to Level 3, the blade of the tomahawk is covered in blood. Something along those lines.
