    Two items:
1: Does this server cost anything to run? Is there a way to get better bandwidth to the server (I only get about 3/5 bars to it). If there are costs is there anyways to donate?

2: Think we are big enough now to get our own shiny Division tag? /brilliant

The server has more than enough bandwidth. That's not really an issue. Also, it's not eating into like...usage costs for the owners so I doubt it's costing them any more to run than just their internet costs.

As for a subdivision tag. That would be super cool.

    It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's... a wall-o-text. :O_o:

The only costs we have currently is just the power to run the server, and we're not going to accept donations to cover that (since we have the same box running a server for just friends, it would be on anyway)

Right now we're hosting from our apartment, located in eastern Canada. The bandwidth on our current plan is pretty good for a home plan (10Mbps up, 500GB total monthly limit that we have yet to even approach). Depending where you're located, you might have a higher latency from the physical distance.

If people were willing to donate or pitch in toward the cost of third-party hosting, we'd definitely be open to that. I'd estimate we'd probably end up in the $35 - $40 a month range with most MC-focused services, to get the RAM we need to be able to run our mods. (Right now we have 5gigs of RAM assigned to the server, and with a small load like two players, it uses about 60% of it.) The benefit is that most of these services come bundled with web control panels (we've been looking for a free one with little luck), and I don't have to lose sleep over server uptime, hehe.

Ghost told us that when we have more members AND a clear leader that we'd get an official subdivision. While we might have some of the membership now, I don't think we have a single clear leader... I'd say it's pretty evenly shared between Tal and Myst (though I act as Myst's mouthpiece)

I'm not even sure what leadership in MC would look like, haha. Myst and I manage the server mods and try to troubleshoot technical issues, but that's basically all we do. There's no CoC, no planning beyond "push the update live this weekend", we haven't needed anyone to settle personal disputes (knock on wood). I imagine it's probably something that would evolve naturally as we accumulate more players - we'd have to establish guidelines in regards to griefing, claiming land, etc... but right now I don't feel comfortable pointing to any individual and saying, "Yes, them. They're the leader."

Just a note: I updated my post to reflect a more appropriate cost estimate for a hardware setup similar to what we're running on now.

I've only heard of 4 or 5 members not including myself. Nano, Tal, Weevils, Mortos, and I think Trav

    ~*~*~MC superstars~*~*~

We've had 23 unique log ins, and about half of those have been return players/regulars. Since we got our dedicated subforum, we're approving a new member every day or two. I think last night there were around eight people on for the majority of the night. The average this week has probably been about 4 players online at any given time. We don't have a lot of numbers yet, but it's going to do nothing but grow.

Yes, it will grow. But to be a NNG subdivision, it has to have a good amount of NNG members using the MC server regularly
