You need to take in context the only relations Sel has had with GhostSheets were never positive. Regardless of "knowing who Selentic is or not" calling someone (loose quote) "You're completely fucking retarded and your stupidity is astounding." Is ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED ON THESE FORUMS. discussions may happen but taking to direct personal insults, to someone who is supposed to be your friend, over a fucking game is ludicrous, and there is ZERO tolerance. As the administrators made it clear.

Anyway to get back to my main point. Sel commenting "I expected him to be girlier looking" could have easily been blown out of proportion as an insult just as easily as GhostSheets saying "Keep your fantasies about girly men off the forums please." And neither of them knowing each others sense of humor could easily get a bit crazy. Knowing both Ghost and Selentic I knew they were both kidding. and judging by how Ghost answered so did he. It was a total joke comment to another joke. I don't know why Sel took it so seriously, but for what ever reason it is all of a sudden a big deal. And if using the "keep your fantasies about girly men off these forums please." as a direct insult to Selentic's sexuality, then why isn't his comment, "I expected him to be girlier looking" used as an example of an insult directly to Jaamaw?

Oooooooh riiiiiiiight. Cause it was a joke.

"just keep yourself Ghostsheets and Linch from leaping on us and we will be good because if they did we are gone"

I got a nice chuckle out of this one.

If you're speeding and a cop pulls you over, is it because the 'cops are out to get you', OR is it because you did something wrong and got caught.

Cause & effect guys, cause & effect.

Omg someone made the G joke on the Internet! It never happens even tho in this case it didn't seem offensive at all and I found it funny in non-offensive way.

My first day in NNG, one of the older members said "I hate fucking Russians, they're all snakes".
Oh ok, I'm gonna go sit in the corner and cry about it or make a 200 page thread.

Someone on the Internet was rude to me!!! WTF?

Just play the fucking game and avoid the drama. If you want some special attention, get a IRL friend, but when you are playing the game, spend some time in the casual channel, it's fun.

Using military jargon is not the same as emulating the military.

Some of the groups I've been in (Tactical Gaming was the worst offender) have structured themselves in militaristic style. They have a Chain of Command that follows the same principals as the US/Canadian Military, and a strict set of rules and lists that are similarly based. They even had a test to get in that determined if you were read up on the rules. The problem quickly became apparent that sticking strictly to military comms and actions in game set them back. You had situations like what you said, where it would take too long to get something out and the information wasn't properly being processed, or, even worse, Chain of Command would abuse powers in game against people who were beating them (If you had an Executive or Commanding Officer on the opposing team, you were not to kill them under any circumstances). They used Military style breach and enter protocol, and then people just got way to tacticool about things and would be offended and report you to CoC if you cussed or said something out of line (A rule which I hate seeing as 90% of the games out there have foul language and were supported).

The Military in reality is setup to make sure that real human beings do not commit atrocious acts of violence, and do not get themselves killed. Real life you can only have 1 death, so people are much more cautious and less willing to go into dangerous situations. In a video game, these things are necessary, and a death has no impact on the player.

I've grown up in a military family, specifically Navy, and do not want to emulate that lifestyle in my attempts to enjoy myself. I figure NNG would never go towards that route, but as I said: Do not under any circumstances do it.

When your old man tells you to be ready to go to school at zero six hundred hours, you're fucked if you're not there on time :)
My grandfather was a general and my old man was a major in the Russian Air Force.
I defenatly don't want to hear all the military stuff when I'm playing a video game.
There's got to be order and a chain of command but it seems like those outfits that you guys have me mentioned above have taken it overboard. How the hell am I supposed to focus on not killing a guy when he is on the opposite team. To me, if its red, it better be fuxking dead :) but I think that we're getting off topic here.

I hope that this issue gets worked out and no one's Internet feelings get hurt.

It's time to close this thread up. It appears both sides are not going to see the other's side and it will most likely remain that way. Everyone has said what they needed to say. So we part ways...
