This is what makes the Marauder a sidegrade and not straight upgrade over the Fury. Yes, they aren't very good, but it is extremely common to see lightnings/skyguards on the outskirts or defending sundies and this lets you deal with them. 2 magazines from the rear kill a lightning and a good Har team can usually outmaneuver and pick them off. 4 Shots kill an ESF....and an ESF diving low is a pretty common occurance if you've been killing a lot. 1 Clip takes out a lib.
