I have a relatively new computer but the graphics card is ok. I can play this game, but on the lowest screen resolution and lowest graphics setting with flora and shadow turned off. Now since I have a feeling I'll be playing more I wanted to get a better graphics card. I wanted to know what kind I should get. You could tell me a name, where I could get it, or prices that'd be greatly appreciated. This graphics card should run on at least medium graphics settings. Thanks guys!

P.S. next time I'm at GameStop or Bestbuy I will look for a mic so I don't have to use the chat.

The cards on the market today run the range of entry level with decent performance up to $600 dollar graphics titans that will blow your mind and heat your room up in the winter time. Either, would be a ginormous improvement over what you're seeing now. PS2 though is a special beast. The game benefits from both a high performance GPU and also CPU. One may bottle neck the other if they are not appropriately matched. I believe the game is more CPU intensive overall but a new GPU will still do tons for your performance.

What is your current setup and what is your budget?

We could probably all paste hundreds of links in here for new hardware for you but if you gave us an idea of where you're at and where you want to be we could work from that :)

Good call Ghost! Once we know how much you love the computer god...we can tell you more....

    My 2nd home is http://www.microcenter.com/

    but also good are:
    http://www.newegg.com/
    http://www.amazon.com
    http://www.tigerdirect.com

Get smart 1st, then get the BEST part for YOU.
Learn all you can first so you dont waste money. If you know the part you want, you may find it on http://www.craigslist.org/ but its a roll of the dice as to the quality of product you will get. I got a good sub and speakers off craigslist but I would never get a CPU off of there.

MicroCenter also has markdowns and closeouts for savings. (I really love that place!!!)
When Im repairing other peoples computers, I go to the local repair shops looking for used parts. You can find things like DDR2 RAM, HDD and PSU for next to nothing.

    Good places to start:

Well I'm not sure what my price range will be I'm still paying off some games I pre-ordered for xbox, but I guessing it will be around 300-500 dollars.

Please post what you currently have, as a new GPU may or may not help you for planetside 2 (For instance, my brother runs a 550ti and has absolutely no problems). The problem is most likely a CPU issue, as planetside is easily one of the most CPU intensive games that isn't an Emulator.

Could we get a specs list off of you? If your motherboard can fit a 3570k get it, if not get a new motherboard.

    1-Set a price range.
2-Go to the benchmark websites, like tomshardware.
3-See the GPU with highest overall points hat lands inside your price range. Don't pick your gpu benchmark based in a particular game or specific application, like battlefield 3 or winzip, get the benchmarks based on 3dmark or something like that.
4-Buy it, install the latest drivers
    5-Be happy.

    Entry level:

    Performance:

    Extreme:

Pay attention, some benchmarks mix single with dual gpus.

I don't know how to get the specs, computers are not my forte, but I'm sure there's a way to find out that I don't know about. I will look at all the sites you guys gave me and see if my motherboard can handle the kickassness of some of the cards.

Download a program by the name of CPU-Z and run it, copy and paste that into here,
