I'm curious if anyone has checked out the early access of H1Z1. I know myself and Dividon both picked it up and played a little and find it to show promise. If there's anyone else out there, we should all pick a server and try to get together sometime to bash heads and rob some poor unsuspecting folks.

The fact SOE claimed up and down that this game wont become p2w only for it to become p2w the first week it was out is enough for me to stick my nose up at it. Hell, they cant even fix planetside2 and here the are off making another game that will probably end up busted. No thanks, they had their chance with ps2.

From what I've read up on it, the p1w part isn't what isn't what its cracked up to be. Apparently you pay for air drops, at which during the time they happen, everyone in the area can see this and converge on the cargo box drop.
I've read horror stories of people paying for a cargo drop only to be murdered and their loot that they paid for taken by others.
    Now that's pretty epic.
Definitely want to check this game out, waiting on DiscoPotato's feedback on it, I hear he bought the early opt in for the game

I watched some streams and it kinda looks like a running simulator. If everyone says that the game is P2W, than I'd have to say - fuck it!

It has been known since soe live that the air drops would be in the game and how they would work. It was even run by the community months before that as a concept.

People are only moaning about it now because they didn't research the damn game or follow it's development. They are now complaining about things that have long been public knowledge.

The biggest problem was that early streamers got their drops much closer to themselves so it was like a personal airdrop which made people think it was a way to quickly and easily get good gear. The drop radius is supposed to be a few miles, but the rng put it too close in those cases.

The idea behind the drops is that you are paying to initiate a mini event in your area. Then you and friends can work together to clear the drop site and claim the loot. You are not entitled to what's in it, it is a free for all.

I personally don't get it, unless you want to pay out of your pocket to make the game more interesting for others. Still though, I would like an option where maybe an ingame currency could be used to reward dedicated players for their playtime. Like in ps2, you can unlock items with money (sc) or grind out ingame currency (certs).

Overall I found the concept a bit confusing as I don't fully see it's purpose overall in the game. Players have to pay more money to make the game interesting? The game isn't interesting on it's own to be good enough? I personally would not judge it on the air drop system alone but on the rest of the game. The air drop system only becomes p2w if you group up with friends and are guaranteed to get it and then have a well armed group to crush any lone players or groups that haven't as much gear as you.

So far in my playing, granted only about 4-5 hours or so into it, here are my thoughts:

The p2w aspect is way overblown by people. I don't like the airdrop system personally and would rather there just be a pay to play instead of this f2p bullshit that is taking over gaming. However, after some tweaks to how the drops work and the items they contain, I don't feel that they are some super p2w thing. I could actually see it being fun ganking someone's drop knowing they paid actual cash for it.

The loot system definitely needs tweaking. Right now the respawns aren't working properly and finding gear and supplies is either feast or famine, depending on how recently the server restarted.

Enemy AI and difficulty is very meh. Supposedly they are well aware and plan to have it fixed soon.

There are too many players on each server for the size of the map. You literally run into other dudes too much, IMO. It's nice seeing more action and all, keeps it from being the hiking sim that is DayZ, but when you encounter people at the current rates, it just feels more like a deathmatch robbery game than a survival game.....which....I mean, that's what these games are kind of all about, just takes the intensity away I guess.

All these things being said, I think they have a very strong foundation for what could be one of, if not the, top survival horror games out there. If DayZ type games aren't your cup of tea, I don't see this one changing your mind, but if you're like me and always loved the idea behind some of the prior games and hated the clunky ass engines, then it will be worth keeping an eye on. I see some pretty great potential, but of course, it's SOE and they are the kings of making games with amazing potential and running them into the ground. We'll see, but I guarantee I get $20 worth of fun out of it.

Anyone remember the good old days when developers released finished games? I must be showing my age.

Hey all.... CaptnSlo from the Vindicators....

We have a group playing on The Journey - PvP - US. We have a good base set up in which if you do not get in the main door under 5 secs you are dead due to our defenses set up. We are just missing vehicles at the current time. At last nights check we had tons of food and water, some guns and ammo, good PvP battles that have lasted more than a hour - they would keep coming back with very limited success.

If anyone is interested in playing or teaming up with us to have bigger party you are welcome to join us if you have the game. If you do want to join us just hope on our TS because we treat everyone as hostile that goes toward the gate without notice.

We are up in the North near Zimms and between Pleasant Valley and Ranchito.
