so lately i've been trying to just stfu and deal with this, but it came to a head today. i cannot aim. we know this. i've teamkilled loads of you. uber sorry, by the way. but the IRNV does seem to be the easiest option, since i loathe the 1x reflex Vanu get. even though it forces you to play the breath-control minigame, it's an easy scope to get used to, right? today, i LA'd up to the tower leg overlooking the spawn, and sat there. i ads alot, so i was scoped in. an infil managed walk out uncloaked, look for me, spot me, aim, and pop me in the face, and i didn't even notice him over the whiteness. it was esamir, so that figured, right? bad choice, obviously. but later, Extermin8ter was wrecking me with a Cougar and IRNV. on esamir.

tl;dr is there a way to make the shit not blinding fucking white? i've fiddled with my monitor and nothing really works. or am i just that bad that these people somehow can see through this shit?

If an infiltrator is cloaked the INRV does not pick him up at all, which if he was smart would allow him to aim while cloaked, uncloak and pop you. Also if you are aiming directly down onto a bright white surface it will be a little harder for you to see the bright white highlights of people. What I usually do is "Q spot" the enemy to know where they are or watch for movement in the INRV scope instead of only white outlines. Usually I stray away from the IRNV due to its limited range, but it is the most accurate 1x scope due to being aligned properly and is easy for target recognition.

yeah, i was aiming down at the floor and it was just unusable. he wasn't cloaked though, that was the issue. i couldn't even see normal infantry when they strolled out.

When you say you cannot aim what do you mean? Are you aiming at friendly targets because you think they're enemy, or are you twitch missing enemy targets by a bit and hitting friendlies by mistake?

Dunno if I can help with the first one, but for the second one you should probably turn down your mouse sensitivity a bit. Here's a good video that describes how to *properly* set your sensitivity:

okay, so i'm an idiot. turns out if you set graphics setting to high, textures to ultra, and everything else low, the scope works just fine in broad daylight.

i hadn't seen that before, cheers dude. it's mostly because i have nerve damage in my right hand, and have taken to using a stick for aiming. i'm comfortable enough with it, but obviously it's not going to compare with the amount of precision you get with a mouse. if i' lined up kinda well, i'm gold. but tracking is a real bitch. i lowered my sensitivity before, but i ended up puling down harder, obviously, and then i'd either end up releasing the trigger before was done pulling, which makes your gun jerk down. or i'd release the pull before i stopped shooting, with causes your gun to jerk up.

it's all practice practice practice. i'll get there.

If you want to work on aim try ironsights. Forces you to carefully choose your shots. IRL, I have done a lot of competitive long range shooting, usually 600yd or 1000yd. But as weird as it may seem, humans tend to be more accurate when shooting smaller targets than larger ones, in terms of being able to consistently hit a certain spot versus having shot spread over a large surface. Im not a neurologist or optometrist but im sure it has to do with you being forced to focus more accurately on your target and shot placement for smaller targets. That is how my father, a retired 40 year old firearms instructor always taught. I find this always bleeds into my gaming, and causes often use iron/1x/2x magnification even for medium range, with few exceptions.

I swear by the IRNV on all continents. Great for target acquisition and once you get past the scope sway, it's great (Hold Breath Implant feels really strong with IRNV by the way). You just have to carefully choose when to ADS mostly because you could get ganked by infiltrators. Bear in mind that cloaked infiltrators can appear if they are hit at all (the IRNV picks up the glimmer effect pretty easily).

oddly enough, as soon i switched the gauss saw to a 1x, low and bloody behold, I COULD HIT SHIT11!!1 but thanks for the help, guys. it should really be mentioned that turning down your graphics helps a fuckton with the IRNV.

I almost never use it because there's too many drawbacks. Close quarters weapons, I need a scope with a faster scope in time to stand a chance if someone's coming at me. Longer ranges, the IRNV doesn't light people up white and you're just shooting at a gray blob, plus you get tunnel vision. And not being able to see infiltrators is the worst drawback of all.

When I equip it it's on scout rifles at night. I don't know why, but it works really well on scout rifles at night. LMGs too, but I don't like playing heavy at night because I can't use my shield or else I have an entire platoon suddenly firing at me. I imagine it's pretty good for assault rifles too, I haven't really messed around with that.
