http://www.navalaction.com/#ageofsail Ok, being a navy person, I'm naturally drawn to it. I'm absolutely in love with ships in the 17th century (or around that era, per se), which reminded me so much about the swashbuckling pirates (there's none here, but...). They don't have pirates (well so far anyway) yet, but the game will feature a giant open world sandbox once it fully comes out. I'm super stoked about that! Basically this game focuses much on naval combat, similar to combat in Pirates of the Burning Sea or probably like naval combat in Assassin's Creed. The biggest thing is that AC's naval combat feels arcade-y and fast paced while this is a bit slower (which is something I really appreciate). I haven't bought this yet, but you can treat this game similar to Arena Commander in Star Citizen because right now they're beta testing the combat system right now. Here's a video about the scale of this game in combat: Thoughts?
No modern boats, the game is focusing on the age of sail. I'm actually going to wait until World of Warships or War Thunder's naval module to come out if I want my share of modern warships. You'll be seeing ships like the HMS Victory and ships of the line.
I've been watching the Mighty Jingles play this on YouTube, looks great people don't realise how much strategy goes into naval fights in this era of ship.
