    Hey guys,

The other night, a bunch of us went into a custom battle (duel mode?) specifically for the purpose of pilot training. Granted, there was plenty of goofing around as well, but I found the session quite helpful. The next night, I had my first ever multi-kill battle in RB. This was in no small part due to what I had learned the night before. So, I was wondering if we could make Pilot Training a weekly event. I know that the Saturday Night Duels will go a long way toward that, but I was thinking of more of a classroom environment than a competition. This would require a couple of you seasoned vets to become instructors. I think that anything that helps our pilots will go a long way toward increased participation by those pilots. It is always more fun to fly when you are having fun versus getting frustrated. I know that such sessions would help me greatly, as just one session already has. It would also give some of the more experienced pilots an opportunity to hone skills that could use some sharpening.

    Just a thought...

The fact that you're seeing WT as a challenge and want to get better at it is great. I support any type of training 100% so if there is someone who wants to schedule and/or lead training sessions, go right ahead.

This is how I personally do training in Sim Battles - we fly together and we learn as we go.

What I would recommend is browsing through our own WT forums and looking for some helpful information. Pilots Bible would be the first thing everyone should attempt to read. It's kinda boring but has a lot of great information in it.

Watching some videos on flying goes a long way as well and there are plenty to choose from.

Now, as far as people stepping up to lead the training sessions - I don't want anyone to feel bad about not doing it and not becoming so called instructors.
When we log on, we want to fly and we want to kill shit, get more Lions, get more RP, unlock and upgrade new planes. This is a general mentality and there is nothing wrong with that because this is what the game is all about.

    @Valrimor
Try flying with a wingman as much as you can and develop some kind of synergy with some friends. Flying in pairs and peeling for one another is not as easy as it sounds and takes a lot of discipline and hard work.

I'm not comfortable setting a schedule, as it turns the game into a job. Any time anyone wants pointers, even in a 1 on 1 session, feel free to ask when you see me on. I may not be available immediately, but I'm willing to work with you.

ANYTIME JUST ASK Im glad the pointers worked out for you. I found out that a long day and wine do not enhance your skills of flying. I will stick to the Crown or Scotch...

Glad to see the responses. :) I am sure that most of you are, to use Nraged's words, looking forward to flying and killing shit, getting more Lions, getting more RP, etcetera. I know that when I log in, it's what I want to do too. It's for this reason that I am reticent about asking for someone to set that fun stuff aside to provide one-on-one instructional time. Hence my suggestion for a set night to spend an hour or two teaching multiple people the same thing, like a classroom. Follow that with actual battles to put what we learned into practice.

There could be another aspect to this as well. Squadron Tactics Training. The other night, eight of us flew tier 2 Japs together in the same battle and got our asses handed to us. And we had competent flyers making up most of the team. I think I was the only noob. One of the participants in that battle (can't remember who...) had suggested on the following night that one of the reasons was poor use of squadron tactics. Just some additional food for thought.

At any rate, thanks Glissen, Ajax, and Highlander for the offers of assistance. Thanks to Nraged for the suggestions. I could not agree with you more on the importance of having a wingman. Looking forward to more flying tonight.

    See ya then.....

I have actually been talking with Highlander about setting up a classroom-like environment in War Thunder where we take new pilots (or even veteran pilots who just want to practice their moves) into a custom battle. Topics would be set mostly by the people learning, of course, but I think officers and some of the more veteran members should set other topics they think should be covered.

Truxaw, Ernst, and myself just took Valrimor, BennyTheRat, and Beachy into such a custom battle. Now, most were rather inebriated, I must admit, but I think the environment was at least somewhat helpful. I particularly was attempting to teach the proper way to deal with bombers -- learning their deadzones, aiming for hardpoints (engines, gunners), keeping the gunners moving. I feel that since we fly Japanese tier 2 (which often gets bumped-up to tier 3) this should be a topic worth discussing.

Now as to setting a schedule, I'm not sure I could set a rigid schedule due to plain old real life (read: "baby"), but I think I could put a rough schedule up every week of when I could be available. Of course, even when I'm just online, if someone asks for help, I'd be happy to help them out.

Some topics that I think we should cover or at least espouse the importance of:
    • Bomber tactics (as mentioned)
    • Squad and squadron cohesion and tactics (picking targets, sticking together, working to get every member points)
    • Communication (calling targets, describing situations)
    • Learning the planes

When I logged on I saw that no one was in the WT channels so I went on my merry way to play Diablo, when I was calling it a night I saw quite a few of you all in the channel, Ill try to be a bit more vigilant on checking to see if or when you are up there to help you out.

WE had over 15 people in the channel, 9 flew together in one Chaika match, we were put into tier 2 and still crushed the enemy
