    Yes, War Thunder :)

If you've not heard of this game yet, it's a flight combat/sim game, set from the mid 30's to the early 50's (pre-WWII to early Korea wars). The game is currently in beta testing, and while there are more planes currently in the game then I care to count, there is only about half that are going to be in the end product.

There are also several ways to play the game. There is an arcade mode for those that wish to jump right into the game and start ripping the enemy up, without any prior flight game experience needed. For those with a bit more experience, either in WT or other games, there is the Historical Battle mode, in witch the battlefields are much more massive, the flight controls much less forgiving, and added realism, such as your wings ripping off if you dive faster then your plane can handle, and having to return to base to re-arm. And those are just 2 of the many game modes!

In the not too distant future, they also plan to expand the game into armored ground warfare, as well as giving us control over naval units! Unlike World of Tanks & World of Warplanes, air, ground & sea units will all be playable in the same game, at the same time. And if the ground & sea play is even a fraction as fun as the air, Gaijin (the developer) is going to have a huge hit on their hands!

And I havnt even got to the best part yet. The game is free. Yes, you heard me, it's FREE :)

In my experience, most free to play games I've tried have in reality been pay to win. But War Thunder is *NOT* like that. yes, there are things to spend real money on in the game, but *none* of them upset the balance of game play.

So please, if you have any comments and/or questions, post them up below, and if you're interested in aviation at all, or just love shooter games in general, I recommend you follow the link below & give it a shot :)

    One thing worth noting:

I have heard complaints about using joysticks. But it's my understanding that these problems are being worked on, and only really effect the Arcade game mode. To get the best performance (for now) in Arcade, I recommend using the mouse & keys set ups they have, as the mode is built around the mouse-aim and instructor features that make the game assessable to those inexperienced in flight games.

For those of you dead set on using your joysticks, I would recommend the historical battle game mode, or even the Full Real Battle mode (if you got what it takes).
