I have bounced between a few gaming communities and they all went the way of this one. A slow decay from neglect or an implosion from some drama (pretty much what happened here.). If any of you remember I hopped over to BTD (Black Thornes Dragoons) when our Mech Warrior Online group merged with theirs. They are now slowly falling apart do to unsavory internal policies and old guard members unwilling to change with the times. When NNG was running at full steam this was by far the best gaming community I was a part of.

So here I am looking to plant myself in a new home and I was hoping NNG had bounced back a little or some new leadership had taken hold by now and spruced the place up, however it looks like I am wrong just by looking at the date on forum posts. Is it all possible to revive NNG? It looks like the framework is still intact and functional. It appears a few of the old vets are still lingering around, maybe its time to pull together and make NNG great again (lol)?

I want someplace to call home, someplace that supports any and all pc games. Someplace that I could pop onto TS and ask if anyone wants to join me in XYZ game and get a group going. Someplace that can adapt, change and is mature enough to realize when leadership is failing or is resilient to drama. A permanent community of mature(ish) gamers.

What do the reminder of you think?

    Make NNG Great Again!

Right now, our problem is not leadership, it's a lack of cohesion around any one particular game. Of us still here, it sounds weird, but we all like playing different games at different times. A couple of us will play a game for awhile, then a couple others will play a game for a while, so on and so forth. There's really not been a unifying game that we can play day in and day out that we all enjoy. That's what made Battlefield and Planetside unique for us. We could play it daily for years without getting bored or distracted by the shiny new game.

Currently we're more of a gaming social club that likes hanging out and playing games now and then. You're more than welcome to hang dude.

If we could rally around a game, we could grow possibly. I'm just not sure what that game would be.

Like Ice said the major issue of NNG right now is the lack of a game that actually draws our attention. Maybe one day we'll find that MMO that fits us just right like Planetmans did. But yeah, come join us in teamspeak every once in a while.

And as for a list of what some of us are currently playing:
    Battlefront 2
    Battletech
    PUBG
    Escape from Tarkov
    FFXIV
    Black Desert Online
    Stardew Valley Multiplayer (Beta)
    Dead by Daylight
    Monster Hunter (PS4)

And that's all I can think of at the moment.

Yeah, it's true. Gaming communities are pretty hard pressed to survive longer than a good couple years to be realistic. NNG was founded in 2011. It's been around a while. Gaming communities run into drama and bullshit because toxic personalities mix with competitive spirit and sometimes member count. Every community will break at some point. Whether it's too many people to manage, weak leadership, dictatorships, cliques -- it happens. But we never really let our community succumb, not ultimately.

It's not exactly dead, at least I wouldn't say so. But as the previous two comments pointed out, we don't just do one single unifying thing anymore. We've been finding that most things just get stale after a bit, and we all try to group together and gravitate toward something else. A lot of the newer titles aren't making it easy either. Planetside was unique, we had figuratively limitless amounts of players who could all play together and Battlefield used to offer privately owned servers. Maybe Battlefield still does, I don't know, not many of us play it anymore. But with all these new games leaving little room for a centralized or controllable recruitment system through NNG owned servers, lower total player counts, etc. etc., it's hard to find ways to grow. MMO titles would be the greatest opportunities for expansion but not everyone always feels like playing an MMO, and those that do are split on which one to play: WoW, GW2, ESO, FFXIV, BDO, etc.

So we're kind of just searching for something that we can all play together and enjoy, specifics aside. Whether its for the next few weeks or few months, we're playing together-- a group of solid friendships and community, where everyone can just kick back and play some games without the extra bullshit drama and hassles.

That was always the vision of what No Nonsense Gamers was meant to be. A community, a group of friends, a family. A place where everyone is welcome.

Teamspeak is far more active than our forums. There aren't really giant divisions anymore, so all sorts of news and update posts aren't really needed when pretty much everyone is present in either teamspeak or our slack group chat.

"Found this game if anyone's interested" kind of posts here.... it would just be easier to message everyone in slack and say "who's heard of this game" or to mention it in teamspeak. We keep the forums because we have them. Never know when we might need them just in case, but they're not exactly the greatest indicator member activity.

I'd love to hook up for some Tarkov action! Is anyone still playing it?
PM me if you do, I'll drop by TS for sure.
