Arma 3 Alpha Available Today - Anyone getting?

Although that happens a few times in the beginning because you aren't used to the game, it is still a ton of fun!

 

So basically it is like a hardcore BF3 and COD where you have long re-spawn timers and relay on tactical team play rather than the one man army BS.

Just one question is it one shoot one kill or is it like other shooter games where it takes 3 to 4 shoots to kills someone?

 

Its so far from BF3 that even if you believe me 100% when I tell you that, you will still be 100% surprised when you play Arms 3 for the first time. Its a totally different experience. In BF3 when you get shot you see a red directional indicator. In A3 you have to try to locate the source of the gun sound. You have to listen for the bullet cracks breaking the speed of sound as they go by you to try to determine a direction just to hopefully get lucky and see a muzzle flash.

And even if you do, you won't be able to aim steadily because your character will be stressing. The adrenaline flow will sway your gun and your heart rate will make controlling your breathing impossible.

This type of gunplay results in playing like your life is actually on the line. Like... Taking ten minutes to crawl 5 meters to a shrub at snail pace just so you don't get hit and bleed out.

There are kill shots. Bleeding shots and small damage shots that you can take. All triggered by getting hit in different parts of the body.

BF3 (while awesome) = sprint 3 football fields to a cool sniping spot, setup a spawn beacon and camp, sniping dudes over and over.

A3 = finding a dense brush area or , shaded area about 1000 yards from where you THINK enemies units might be getting into a seated position , using binocs to carefully scan the area for enemies, locating one, switch to sniper rifle, zoom in on target. Them calculate wind, bullet drop, weather conditions, zeroing in on your target with minute scope and trajectory adjustments, modeling breath, hope target doesn't move then take the shot. Zoom out a bit to get a wider view of the area. If you attracted attention, then you run your ass of into the woods lol. If not, acquire another target and go through the same firing procedure again.

Its so far from BF3 its hard to explain without going into great detail.

But honestly, I find it fucking fun as all hell. If you can be patient the immersion level is unlike any other game I've played. The risk are real and they are heavy. You don't just spawn on a beacon and take out 10 guys with your knife.

 

Typing that on a tablet sucked ass. I sound like a drunkard! Grammar and Engrish for the win!

 

It's not all that bad for using a tablet. But to try and compare it to BF3 is nearly impossible.

 

People will always compare though because it has a gun and a first person perspective.
