So I know some of us have chatted on the side about having NNG start to get into other games. I wanted to throw a quick poll out there to see who is interested in what.

I'd go with Arma, Counter Strike, or Medal of Honor

I want Arma 3 to be good so bad just because of the scale, but it looks like its going to be just as clunky and unexhilarating as the previous titles. This is coming from someone who LOVED BF2 Project Reality. Ravaged is made by a lot of BF2 alumni, so that bodes well for it right out of the gate, not sure how much traction it will get though.

I agree on the Arma bit. It's just not an approachable game. But it has it's moments.

I think arma 3, would be the best bet. Because we are a very organized and tactical community as far as I can see. That we group up into squads and actually go through each checkpoint clearing and capping. I think that with arma very large battlefield, will give us a very fun playing field and a good place to use our tactical skills. Also, sources have said (Not Official) that arma 3 may be similar to arma 2 where we can run the server on a dedicated servers, that will be so much easier, being able to pick our own slots, and having full control over the server! Also, possibly we could host more than one game on a decent dedicated servers. Which eliminates the prices per slot, that you get with Battlefield 3.

To be completely honest... I don't think we're hitting our potential in BF3. Sure, sometimes we travel as a squad but we really don't work as a team to defend or assault points. I'd like to see us play a little more seriously. Understand, I don't have a beef with any of you and I have as much fun as you all do. I just think that maybe we could get more satisfaction out of the game by playing more tactically.

That said, I was a CS player from day one of its release.

As was I Dub. I used to compete in a lot of 2vs2 leagues with a close online gamer friend of mine and we were very good. We communicated every thing we did:

    Checking room right.
    Checking room left.
    Flash out flanking from right-rear.
    Enemy spotted moving west.
    Switching to secondary.

It was a lot of fun and it worked.

A lot of times we go into our server and all of us are on one team, but we still get beat by pubbers. If we wanted to we could wipe the floor with them. I also don't think we've reached our full potential with BF3, but I don't want that to prevent us from enjoying other games under the NNG call sign.

I know Aragorn is very tactical and joined NNG because of our use of TS after one particularly squad tactical game. It's a shame we haven't leveraged it further. I also know Biz was talking about some map overhead shots and potentially using them to strategize.

I'm thinking about creating a NNG strategies section in the members only forum. Thoughts?

Definitely. I used to compete with some guys in UT2k4 and UT3. We had the maps and multiple strats for each map worked out in practice sessions. Everyone knew their part and all the lead had to do is call out which strategy to use and we could change it midgame. It's nice when you sweep across the map and take everything.

    Here's my input:

    Op Firestorm: 12 Man Team

    -- Armor--
    1 Tank
    1 Tank
    2 Tank
    --Inantry--
    4 Inf
    4 Inf
    --Support--
    4 Huey&Inf QRF
    1 MAA
    3 Tank QRF
    2 Jets
    2 AH

The 3 Tank teams work together to hold E and D, since they are the "Armor" flags on the map. They hold the road and keep armor out off C (the refinery area I believe). They're commanded by the 2 man teams gunner

The two Inf squads hold the three tighter flags, A,B,C They're commanded by one of the squad leaders.

The Support crew helps when needed, as requested by the leaders of the other groups. The infantry and Armor QRFs move between the two areas quickly when to much armor hits A,B,C or two much infantry hits D or E. The QRFs should be consist of the better players, as they'll be sent to where we're losing.

Now to get the active roster to 24.... We can dream.

My idea for firestorm was 4 tanks, 2 each side of the road, work from whichever spawn end. inf and heli spot, keep the air down, and catch what slips past the tanks. take point by point until you have them cornered in their spawn.
