Its from IL2 but the basics are still the same.

Quick tip, when looking down over your wing, twist your rudder in opposite direction. You will not be losing altitude when you do that.

Few more things to add from my personal experience:

    - Look for AAA tracers, make sure that you're able to tell if the AAA is friendly or not.
    - Even if the AAA belongs to the enemy, look for the contact that's being hit and look for another contact next to him, most of the time there will be a bandit chasing it.
    - Going down and hitting the deck is not always a bad idea. Go for a deep deep dive and as you hit the deck, look around, look for targets and if you do spot something, burn your energy on getting on their six.
    - Best tip of them all - DISCIPLINE! If you miss on your dive, spotted a friendly instead of an enemy, have the balls to admit that you've made a mistake and regain the momentum. Go back up, get you speed and altitude and look for more targets.
    -Tip by Sedsibi:
"Even at low altitudes, energy is still energy, you can use it to your advantage."
    - On a scouting dive make sure that you hit max speed and lowest altitude, when you climb back up, keep looking at your six, most of the time you will see something.
