This is something weve all done in our PS2 lifetime a couple times. Camping warpgates or setting up in a pointless area just to be a nuisance - with a few squads/platoon of anti-air/anti-vehicle basically in places where there really isnt a tactical use other than to be annoying. Like a few of unnamed outfits dedicated to trolling on Mattherson - injecting 5 gals into a fight no where near their factions lines. One of these trolling outfits even tried to do this while my outfit was under the spotlight of FNO - attempting to show the fun side of PS2 to people who might like to play or player who are looking for a well grounded outfit. Myself if I was a new player considering PS2 and a game choice I would quickly change my mind if what I saw was people constantly griefing for the heck of it.

The fix for this would be very simple - it wouldnt eliminate it BUT it would definately decrease it a large portion.

    Eg.

    Zurvan pump - TR Owned
    Zurvan Proper - VS Owned

VS are pushing into Pump TR and defending and pushing back.

XP gains in Zurvan Pump, Zurvan proper are normal for both factions.

The NC decide to drop 4 gals on Zurvan just to be annoying and their closes NC region/battlefront is Howling Pass. The NC players should be penalized -75% XP because they are not helping their own fronts.

Or the TR want to take down unsuspecting air by setting up a WG camp at Feldspar(very common). 2+ hexes away from the actual fight - they would also be penalized -75%.

Air vehicles shouldnt be penalized unless they are 4+ hexes away from a battlefront since some air chases/dogfights can actually run through multiple hexes - chasing gals, libs, etc...

If infantry/ground vehicles are away from a battlefront they belong in:
    - 2 hex away: XP should be reduced -50%
    - 3+ hexes away: XP should be reduced -75%
    - resources should also not tick since they have no connected region to the one they are camping in.

    ------------------

Below will also help in preventing the griefing nests.

Something else which desperately needs to be fixed is a MAXs and ground lockon render range. Engi turrets show up at the same distance vehicles do(800m)- MAXes should as well this gives air/ground vehicles a way to at least attempt to fight off an AA/AV nest without having to dive into 300m for the MAXes to render meanwhile they can see and hit the air at 800+m. Skyguards and base turrets can see/hit air at 1000+m which is completely broken. Same render issue with ground lockons - if an infantry locks and shoots and lockon they should get priority render of 500m as well - currently the missles, smoke and lighting renders when they shoot at 500m but no body.

offering bonus XP in a situation that can be 'created' and farmed may not be the best decision.

Also funneling more people into smaller areas or restricting where they can go only helps promote the meta-zerg I see so prevalent today.

Planetside allows you the freedom to choose your own tactics.

As one of the founders of Douchebag Island I have to disagree with continued efforts to force people to fight on the frontline.
