Hello NNG and War Thunder Division, I am WindsOfBoreas. I have been playing War Thunder for a couple of months now and am currently looking for a squadron which has led me here. Gaming online has never been a particularly fun activity for me since my experiences have always been tainted by rudeness, indignity, and sometimes downright malevolence. So when I read the War Thunder forum post for this clan I was rather uplifted and thought I should give it a try. From the past few days of flying with Highlander, Usurper, PointIO, and a few other recruits, I would say it has been a try well given. With that success, I decided it was time I introduce myself on the forums. A little about me, perhaps, yes? I am twenty-five with a wonderful wife (who enjoys games herself) and a rather noisy-yet-fantastic five-month old son. Hopefully, when we can afford to build a new computer, my wife will play with me and may join here as well. My wife and I sort of switched our roles when our son was born; she works, I take care of the house and the baby. Since I am home during the day, when I am not tending to the myriad needs of the boy or working on coding -- websites, mods for Minecraft -- I can be online and in a game at any hour. The baby, of course, takes precedence to all things so I may have to leave a game rather quickly or at least be away for a short while. In War Thunder, I am Tier 1 in US; Tier 1 in German; Tier 2 in Russian; Tier 3 in British; and Reserve in Japanese. Obviously, I like to play British (you may even hear me using various accents of the English Isles on TeamSpeak) as I do love my Spitfires. Of course, I am always open to persuasion to join the ranks of other countries...except Japan. I hate Zeros with a fiery passion. I have only really flown in Arcade but tried Realistic the other day and did have some fun with it. When I get around to fixing my Saitek X52 HoTaS (or just buy a new one), I'll probably try out Simulator, but for now I just enjoy the chaos and hilarity of Arcade. So that's me. I hope to be pretty active around here and in game. For now, may the winds always be at your back...and not just another bloody Zero. P.S: I am looking at playing Planetside 2 since it looks interesting. P.P.S: As well, I'd be happy to play Minecraft with anyone if they're into it using a personal modpack for 1.6.4.
Welcome, I've been on but haven't had the opportunity to fly with you yet. Overall we have a great bunch to fly with here, helpful, and they like to share their knowledge with all members within the outfit. I mainly fly Americans rank 3 Corsair for Realistic and anywhere from rank 3 - 5 in Arcade, but you may want to look up Doomforge and Pneumia, they both fly British planes a lot, I think they have been doing realistic battles a lot lately using their Tempest. If you see me on in TeamSpeak feel free to drop in the channel and say hi.
Welcome! I'm a newcomer myself. There are many of us, so don't hesitate to say hi if you see someone on. I happen to be a huge fan of the Zero and would love to understand your hatred for them, especially as a spitfire pilot. The Japanese actually learned to fly in British flight schools, so they fly much the same way. Perhaps we'll have a chance to chat about it sometime on TS. See you in the air!
Thank you all. This seems like a great place with lots of fun people. Glissen, It's nothing against the pilots of Zeros nor Japan, just that if I get a plane I cannot shake, it is invariably a Zero. Outside of the game, the Zero is a fantastic aircraft; inside, they're my nightmare (at least in Arcade). If I ever get around to flying the Japanese planes, I may change my mind a little bit.
Spitfires are excellent turners but theyre not as good as Zeros. What compensates for the difference is the top speed. Spitfire is about 100+KPH faster on a dive and I think it climbs better too.
Over 10 km/h faster climb. Against a Zero, it's best to treat the Spitfire as an energy fighter that can adjust the angles quickly.
