still kinda meh...
They just really need to put everything about BF3 into the scale of Arma and I'd be happy. The actual mechanics just still look no fun.
"We're running low on hair!"
"Roger that, move to resupply at Camp Rogain!"
Arma is a military simulation disguised as a video game. It seriously is.
If you come home from work and want to shoot people in the face in rapid succession to let off some steam, then Arma is not the game for you. Missions are executed in a very slow fashion with high emphasis on planning, stealth and cover to cover movement.
I was told when I first started Arma 2 that you have to pretend you are controlling a real person. Hide behind every bush, go prone and spend 30 minutes crawling to a bunker to avoid getting shot, spend 2 minutes lining up one shot to let your breathing calm back down.
I think with the new engine, what modders are going to be able to do for this game is going to blow people away. The game is going to be huge, but it won't be for everyone.
It think NNG could have great success and fun with it as something to do between now and BF4.
Chopper is a bit fast. That will slow down in the release. The thing is faster than the A10's will be lol.
I guess it depends on the gamer you tend to be, for me realism is a big thing.. along with graphics.. this seems to bring something new to the table in my books.
When does the full release come out?
Welp, I was being a voyeur and noticed your post in here about A3. I wanted to piggyback GhostSheets about what to expect from ArmA. I love ArmA as a game and as the perfect simulator that it is. So, the last thing I want is for people to get the wrong impression about the game and walk away $70.00 lighter in the pants and dissatisfied with the game.
So, if you wish to, please look at the various in game videos from ShackTactical (AKA: ShackTac) to get a better look at what ArmA can provide in the realm of online gaming. ShackTac was my home for 4 years and I'm still listed as a reservist. The group is responsible for much of the content you see in the game and many of the changes that are made throughout the generation of development. They are not all Dev's but a good majority of the players are serious animators and develop many of the game parts.
Please, if you choose to buy ArmA3, do it with purpose and an understanding that it is a simulator. There are many facets to the programs. and it can become overwhelming at first. But, as you are all in the PC gaming spirit, I know you will adapt quickly.
One positive note in regards to controlling content and new packets and changes, is that ArmA3 will be downloadable from Steam and all updates and addons can be manipulated through Steam.
Please enjoy this first of many videos for ArmA 3 movement. Presented by the head of ShacTack, Dslyecxi
Great video!!! I love how A3 lets you control all aspects of your stance, even while mixing in leaning and forward movement. So incredible!
Kerne at some point we will be launching an A3 division here at NNG. Hope you join
I've changed my mind. I can't wait to play it now.
